Well, I've finally done it. I've made a commitment. I did a research paper on the leadership qualities of Linus Torvalds, and that really motivated me to go ahead with installing Linux and using it as my primary OS. (I still have a Windows machine that I put on some slightly older hardware downstairs, for Rachel's benefit and my HTML testing benefit).

No Effin' Way
On Wednesdays, Rachel leaves to go to work for 8:00 (so leaves around 7:30). You could then imagine my surprise when at about 8:00 I heard her making a phone call from the office outside the bedroom. Umm, Rach? What's up? I hear her explain to her co-worker how she might be a little late to work today. Her tire blew out on the way down the mountain. And I mean BLEW. You could see the steel poking out through the rubber. She said she lost control, like she was driving on ice. Thank God she got control before veering off the nearby cliff (we do live on a mountain).
Mr. October
My friend Doug started a blog and it got me realizing that I hadn't touched mine in so long! The reason, though, is it's been an extremely busy October.
JoCo in Asheville?
All we wanna do is eat your brains!
Hey y'all. I've been trying as hard as I can to introduce people to Jonathan Coulton around these here parts of North Carolina. JoCo lets you put down on this site called "Eventful" where you want him to play. Our best shot is to get him to come to Asheville cuz it's already got the highest number of demands (more than Chapel Hill and Hendersonville, and there's none currently for Boone). You can and should join in on the Demand! This means you!
Phone
As you may or may not know, my phone went not only through the entire spin cycle but also a few thunks in the dryer before I realized what was going on. I actually stopped the dryer, pulled out the shorts and said -- hmm, must just be these shorts, and put it BACK ON. After a few more thunks I said "no way those are just shorts. I think it's my phone." It was.
Needless to say, if you read this you must be one of my close friends. That means I'm really gonna want your number. So please send it to me in some way. :) Thanks!
New Pictures
Hey y'all. Nothing too major going on 'round these here parts lately. I added some new pictures of the kitten (ones actually from our house :)). He's quite adorable and still very playful. I also added him to kittenwars.com so head over there and if you see him, vote!
Pigs and Blocks and Stuff
A lot of stuff's happened... some good, some bad. But either way, things are overall quite well still down here in the mountains. I guess I'll start with the easy stuff. You may notice a new block on my site on the left-hand side under the main navigation.
Yay remote printing!
While this is indeed a boring blog post, I am (1) very proud of having made this work and (2) hope to serve others in my same predicament by reprinting my instructions here. If you're not technical, you can move right along. ;)

OMG pwnies!
So yesterday (Saturday) Rachel and I went out to Grayson Highlands State Park in southern Virginia. I was there with camp and saw something there that I KNEW she's go CRAZY for--wild ponies. So, we went back to check it out. It also happened to be the third Saturday in June, which is also the day for the Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival! We got to see some good Bluegrass, some wild ponies, and have an all around good time. I thought I would definitely see Doc Watson play while I was hear in Boone sometime, but didn't realize it would be so soon!
